Open Server Summit Description

Open Server Summit (OSS) focuses on the design of next-generation servers using open specifications and industry-standard hardware. It covers initiatives such as OpenCompute, Open Rack, Open Ethernet, OpenStorage, OpenStack, OpenFlow, and LINARO as well as hardware specs such as DDR4, Hybrid Memory Cube, and NVMe. It also describes standard interfaces, protocols, and APIs such as 10/40/100 GbE, PCIe, Fiber Channel, RapidIO, InfiniBand, and NVM programming.

Industry visionaries will address such topics as the use of SSDs, microservers, software-defined networking, security, and power and cooling requirements. The emphasis will be on creating and using public clouds, designing private clouds, handling big data, and accelerating common applications such as Oracle, SAP, and Hadoop. Special sessions will address cloud servers, server roadmaps, market research, and venture opportunities.
